When Things Do Not Line Up, God is Still Working

ree

Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose]. (1 Corinthians 15:58, AMP)

You made the perfect plan, or so you thought. Everything was going smoothly, and without notice, an unexpected mishap made everything come to a standstill. Now, it feels like everything is falling apart. You were counting on that promotion or that deal closing, as it would have doubled your income. That approval would have meant everything would be better for your family. Whatever your situation, when things do not line up, it can cause undue stress and discouragement.

Dear One, you are focusing too much on the effects of your circumstances, but you forgot one critical asset. When things are not coming together as you thought they would, God is still working behind the scenes. Things are not as they seem because He is still mixing the ingredients and setting you up for victory. However, you may not even feel you can bounce back from this unexpected challenge. My Friend, remember you are not alone in this process. (Romans 8:28; Hebrews 13:5).

Beloved, do not be discouraged by this setback because it is a setup for the blessing you cannot see. Continue to thank God for how He has already turned it around in your favor. He delights in your time with Him. Besides, in His presence is the fullest of joy. (Psalms 16:11). He does not offer temporary pleasures but everlasting satisfaction to the soul yearning for a better future. It is not over, so be patient with God and thank Him for the answer that exceeds your expectations.

TIME FOR REFLECTION: Let's encourage each other. If you have felt like everything is falling apart, how have these challenges impacted your faith in God? Leave your comment below. Hit that heart and share this devotional.
