DEVOTIONAL FOR MEN

'My Brothers, God wants to use you to impact the world.

Howdy Beloved,

I’m Vernita, but you can call me Neat or Nita.
Come, and travel with me as I share about this devotional that has become a series. This book will empower you to understand your life has a purpose, that tough times don’t last, but tough people do, and to see yourself as God sees you because greatness lies in you. Beloved, you can do what you thought you never could.

I know what it is like to have more than enough of God’s blessing and lose everything. Likewise, no one plans to be unemployed and live without a consistent; means of income for three years. And when it happens at the hands of abuse of power by; the head of Human Resources, it can shatter your world. And I share about the pain of betrayal, along with how I went from being a single parent on welfare to publishing four books within a year. Though my faith and enthusiasm have inspired and encouraged countless others across the globe, I experienced what it is like to suffer hardships. Still, Vernita knows nobody gains great faith without it being stretched, strained, and tested.

When I was a child, I enjoyed playing springboard and climbing trees. Come, travel with the little girl who grew up reading the Bible to her grandmother who was blind. They became trusted companions as she attended the monthly Mother's Board Meetings at Antioch Baptist Church. Her eloquent ways of expressing herself amazed and captivated Vernita. Also, being around the mothers of the church; and hearing them expound on the Word of God provided Vernita with a sense of confidence and belonging. On occasion, they allowed her to comment. In addition to realizing she had a gift for speaking, she later recognized her Big Mama had inspired her to write. Little did Vernita know this would propel her into the plan and purpose God ordained for her life.

Her first book, Capturing the Spirit of God’s Word with Vernita is a divinely inspired medicinal devotional. I courageously and candidly share my roughest battles. I show how my grandmother’s unshakable faith in God compelled me to rely on Him no matter what. I reveal what it’s like to seize what the enemy designs to break your spirit, and the Lord uses it to propel you to your destiny. The book is an empowering story that shows how faith, resilience, and God’s amazing love can use your brokenness and make you an extortionary example of beauty for ashes. With the help of my dear friend; Lynn’s exquisite skills guiding me, this story takes readers on a joyful and endearing journey.

Things changed for her when she went to school as her classmates found it amusing to tease her by calling her; Clarence, the cockeyed lion; from the TV show Born Free. Having a condition known as lazy eye, Vernita recognized she could do nothing about her physical appearance. Still, she realized she had something of value they did not. She had the steadfast faith in God passed down to her from her Big Mama. Vernita emerged herself in Joel 2:28 and came to see herself as God saw her. She knew He had handpicked her for something far more than she could ever imagine. She often said to them, keep your eyes on Vernita because I can show you better than I can tell you. Likewise, she proclaimed, one day, she would write a book. So, Vernita composed her first play at the tender age of nine.
