Pray for America because the soul of this country has been bruised. Carmen got it right when he said, “We eliminated God from the equation of American life Thus eliminating the reason this nation first began. We need God in America again!” There was a time when our country embraced the principles of God. Though not perfect, we had a deep reverence for the Lord. We were once a country where you saw the handprints of God in our families, churches, communities, and schools. Now, immorality and lawlessness have replaced these. It is like an epidemic!
America has become a country I do not recognize. And I do not believe I am alone on this matter. And I agree that we should be on the Lord’s side. Israel rejected God and demanded a king so they could be like other nations. And God granted them what they requested. The Lord chose Saul and even warned them their king would take away their rights. Still, they insisted on having a king like the other nations. The results were disastrous because the nation of Israel split into the northern and southern kingdoms. Throughout this reign, many of their kings did evil in the sight of the Lord and the nation suffered the consequences. Beloved, God will give you what you want so you will discover it is not what you need. (1 Samuel Chapter 8, ESV).
My Friend, any time a nation removes God and rebels against Him, it is an open season for the devil to reign. When nations redefine morality, God will judge them according to their wicked ways. When we obey God and acknowledge Him as our leader and protector, then we are truly blessed. (Hosea 8:12, Psalms 33:12-15).
Can you not see the signs? The pandemic, defunding the police, an economic crisis where inflation is only getting worse, unsafe borders that grant open access to whosoever will enter, boys identifying as girls allowed to use the girl's restrooms and locker rooms, our children, being asked what pronoun they are, and even using reading stories to confuse children. Even redefining what God designed marriage to be. Likewise, Bible reading and prayer were welcome in our schools, but now the schools are unsafe as school shootings increase. And countless other laws our government has enacted that go against the principles of God.
No nation who continues to treat the Lord as if His laws do not exist keeps enjoying the benefits of His unprecedented favor. (Galatians 6:7-8). We stand at a critical juncture, and I am not referring to the upcoming election because our only hope is Jesus.
Excerpt from Insights from Christ: God still believes in America and this country has not gone too far for Him to redeem her. However, renewal starts with us, we must be the voice that stands against the evil that rises. Stand up for righteousness even when the majority follow the wrong path. Be courageous and use your freedom to do good and not to harm others. (Matthew 5:14-15;Ephesians 4:15;1 Peter 2:1-15).
Never prefer someone over another because of who they are or where they came from. Treat everybody as human beings and be compassionate to the least of these. That includes refugees and those with different lifestyle preferences. However, you should never compromise your principles but always leave behind a residue of God’s love everywhere you go. Do not be afraid to make unpopular decisions. Do everything the way Jesus would.
Help make America better and not worse. Help make her be everything God created her to be. Lord, create in America, a clean heart and renew a right spirit within her. (Psalms 51,2 Chronicles 7:12-14). I pray the song, We Need God in America Again by Carmen stirs your heart to see He is the answer for this nation and only when we follow godly principles will we be the nation God created us to be. Our only hope is Jesus!
TIME FOR REFLECTION: History shows the consequences of any nation openly rejecting God’s principles.
Who do you think is best to heal the soul of America? Our government, its citizens, or God?
