That One Soul

Writing is my passion. And the purpose is to encourage, inspire, and empower others. One thing is for sure; my words will travel places that my feet may never go. That said, though I recognize my devotional makes a difference, it seems these inspirational readings are only impacting a few. Sometimes I think, some social platforms do not appreciate them, so I consider no longer contributing. It is, though; I am pouring out my heart, but who cares what I have to say? Then I receive an email from someone who let me know the messages I write are potent and effective. That is how it is for those of us who create a blog for no other reason than to use words to lift the downtrodden. Likewise, to give hope to the hopeless and help somebody overcome and walk in victory. We do not do this for applause or to achieve a massive following. Besides, if it were for the numbers and followers, I would have stopped writing years ago. It is for something far grander.

It is for you, that one soul who supports and encourages me. It is for Barbara Less, whose heartfelt compliment on my new devotional to FaithWriters left me speechless. It is why I continue to share my writings, whether somebody replies. We must share His Word even when only a few respond. God did not say being a blogger would be easy. We have to expect rejection, as we do approval. . Even Jesus' own people rejected Him and did not receive what he had to say. (John 11:10-13, ESV). Likewise, some will come back for more, and others shall criticize and put us down. But when we write for that one soul, everything changes because God will get the glory. Likewise, writing to spread the gospel of Christ is a good deed for a blogger to do. Nothing can match such an offering of reverence.

He did not grant us this gift to hide under a bushel but to bless the world whether they receive it or not. (Matthew 5:14-16, KJV). So, we can use words to encourage or discourage. We can keep writing or give up and lose that soul who it benefits the most. I am grateful for those who respond because this means something I wrote encouraged them and stirred their heart. Because there is one person, like Barbara Less, my words will touch and inspire even when others ignore them. Here is what she had to say about my recent devotional on FaithWriters. You too can read, When God Says Yes, Everything Changes by clicking the link.

"Dear Vernita, it’s seldom that I reply to an author from FaithWriters, but your devotional entitled, "When God says Yes, Everything Changes", really touched my heart today. It lifted my spirit and gave me new hope and encouragement. God bless you abundantly for sharing those words. You are an inspiration and I thank God for people like you who make a difference in the lives of others. I truly believe that God is going to throw open many doors of opportunity for you to reach more people with God's encouraging words. Words to heal the wounded and broken, words to lift up those who have been torn down and feel defeated and hopeless. The grace of our precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, be yours today and every day, dear Sister! Amen!"

Beloved, help us encourage someone today. Please share how this devotional inspired you. Hit that heart and leave us your thoughts.

I pray the musical selection; Look To Jesus by Gretchen Keskeys stirs your faith and heart in God.
