Storm, Be Quiet and Calm Down

ree

There is no storm too scary when you have unwavering faith in God!

Dear One, this really resonates with me. There is no storm so massive that God cannot make it calm and cease its mission. In our worst battles, times of uncertainty, and even when everything looks hopeless, God sees the end before the beginning and will make it work out for our greater good. Throughout the Bible, we read countless records of how God protected and provided for His people during storms.

Mark 4:35-41, Jesus and His disciples boarded a boat to go to the other side of the lake. A fierce storm arose, and the waves were crashing into it. Guess what Jesus was doing? He was sleeping peacefully. They went and woke Him, and said, Save us, Lord, we are going to drown. Then, He rose, rebuked the sea and waves, and said, Peace be still. Then everything calmed down. Jesus inquired why they were afraid and still had no faith. The disciples were astounded and declared, “What sort of man is this that even the wind and sea obey Him?”

This storm came without any warning and caught them unprepared. Dear One, how often are we unprepared for a storm? When I lived in Florida, my family and I experienced several hurricanes, which ranged from category 3 to 5. One thing I like about this is that the governor always made the proper arrangements to keep the citizens alert. On one occasion, Irma, we had to evacuate. Unfortunately, there was significant damage and flooding in some areas. However, our trust was in God, and when it ended, we went home, and all was well.

Like an unexpected storm, troubles, struggles, and seemingly impossible challenges can turn your world upside down. The wind of uncertainty may cause hopelessness and despair, while the roaring waves cast fear and panic into your heart. In such dark times, our only hope is Jesus. Beloved, no storm is too big when you have faith in God. And like the NET says, God will command it to be quiet! Calm down!

Whatever the battle is, our faith in the Lord moves the unmovable mountain, makes a way out of no way, and can turn our challenging situations around for our greater good. Dear One, breathe, be still, and meditate on peace-focused scriptures. Let the peace of God rule in your heart, not your doubts, fears, or anxieties. (Colossians 3:15). That furious storm obeyed Jesus before and will bow and obey His voice today.
