Only Believe

But Jesus, hearing this, answered him, “Do not be afraid any longer; only believe and trust [in Me and have faith in My ability to do this], and she will be made well.” (Luke 8:50, AMP)
Beloved, fear not, have faith in the ability of God to do what seems unthinkable. God is greater than your circumstances. He will make the impossible possible. Your circumstances may seem unrealistic to solve. Instead of getting better, everything is getting worse. The plan you thought would be the answer fell through. You may even wonder, How can anything good come from this?
In Luke 8:40-56, as Jesus was returning to Galilee, the people were expecting Him. Jarius, a leader of the local synagogue, had a 12-year-old daughter who was dying. Desperate for help, he fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with Him. As Jesus started to accompany him, the crowd pressed in. Suddenly, something happened that caught His attention. A woman touched his garment, and Jesus felt power leaving Him.
The Lord inquired who had touched Him; even Peter was stunned because, with such a crowd, how could Christ tell anybody had touched Him? The woman realized she could not escape being noticed, came forward trembling, and fell at the feet of Jesus. Before all those present, she shared her story and why she touched Him and how she was healed. Jesus acknowledged the risk she took in trusting Him and said, Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace.
While Jesus was yet speaking, the servant came and told Jarius that his daughter had died, so there was no need to trouble Jesus. Had Jesus not taken time to heal this woman, would Jarius’s daughter have lived? Dear One, Jesus’ response is something we all can apply. He said, 'Do not fear, only believe; she will be made well.' They laughed at Him because she was dead. Jesus did not allow this to affect Him. He was on a mission impossible and followed Jarius to his home, took hold of his daughter's hand and said, My dear child, get up. Instantly, her spirit returned, she got up, and He told them to give her something to eat.
Two miraculous stories that required both people to believe despite their circumstances. How far are you willing to go to believe God for the impossible? Will your situation determine your actions? Will you rely on the unbelief of those surrounding you to cause you to doubt? Or, like that woman and Jarius, will you believe despite the odds against you? It took tremendous courage for them to step out of their comfort zone and seek out Jesus. However, they were desperate, so they went against the odds and took an unconventional action. Their belief in the reports they had heard about Christ was a call to action. By faith, they came and fell at His feet, expecting Him to solve the unsolvable.
What He did for them, He will do for you, because contrary to the unbelief of countless others, God can still do things in an instant. I have seen the prayers He answered not only for me, but for others, likewise. For example, on July 19, 2019, when a mammogram showed something, my doctors required a second one and an MRI. On August 14, 2019, the results showed no sign of cancer. Dear One, we can place our cares in the hands of Jesus as Peter declared in 1 Peter 5:7. He made the impossible possible before, and He will do it again and again. My Friend, I ask you to; only believe!
TIME FOR REFLECTION: Think of a time when God made a way out of no way. How did that make you feel?
