Let the Past Die and Live Again

I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. (Philippines 3:12).

If you don’t release your past you won’t access your promising future.

Everyone has experienced events they wished they could erase. Better still, it would have been better if this never happened. Memories of these past doings torment you. It’s like you are stuck and cannot get out. Every time you try to move forward, it’s as if you are taking ten steps backward. Something or someone pulls you back onto what was and keeps you from what can be. When you rehearse those experiences, you prevent yourself from enjoying life. You are alive, but yet you feel disconnected, and something is missing.

How do I get over the past to move on to green pastures? Beloved, release it and receive a promising future based on God’s history of doing the impossible. It doesn’t have to make sense before you believe. You need only visualize God’s promises that lie ahead. Hear those words of doubt, crumble, as you replaced them with encouragement and inspiration. Imagine the negative opinions of your nemesis going silent. Crush overthinking by declaring God’s Word over yourself.

Accept you are taking responsibility and leaving behind poor choices as you move forward while increasing in God’s knowledge and wisdom. See yourself courageous, walking away from toxic relationships. Get yourself strong enough to where you no longer require acceptance of anyone who undervalues you. Proclaim the circumstances are changing in your favor because you are renewing your mind. Envision yourself resilient and preserving through the storm, even when you don’t see any change. Can you see what God sees? It’s you leaving your past behind and going on to freedom and the blessed life you deserve.

Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. (Proverbs 4:25).

Father, I thrust my past in the sea of forgetfulness and place my life in Your hands.
