Father, sometimes we encounter adversities that overwhelm us. Then, we convince ourselves we can solve these with our human strength. Still, the key here is the plan of God and not our plan. It always has and always will be not only better but greater than anything we can imagine. In this world of uncertainty, we tend to want to control every aspect of our life. It includes our family, job, personal relationships, and even circumstances. We convince ourselves we have super knowledge that can circumvent difficulties and situations. But when unexpected challenges such as a health crisis, sudden loss of a job, or even a pandemic change the trajectory of our life, we realize there are situations we cannot handle. We even discover that we can trust God even when we do not understand His plan.
One verse we quote most often during such times is Jeremiah 29:11. The thing is, Jeremiah spoke these words to serve as a reminder of the faithfulness of God during a time when Israel was about to enter 70 years of captivity. It did not mean we would not go through a season of adversities. So, when such hardships cause undue stress and discouragement, we cannot see His plan; nor make sense of anything happening. It is more prevalent than ever to recall during hardships, God has a plan even when it seems He does not. So, how do we go from overwhelming circumstances to trusting God while waiting for it to all work out for our good? We relinquish control and surrender it to Him.
Proverbs 3:5-6, NET; tells us to Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. 6 Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight.
Beloved, we do not need to know how it ends because God already sees the end that we do not. Still, we must acknowledge that His plan is mightier than anything we can imagine. So, when we trust Him even when nothing makes sense, the return on this investment brings compound interest. That means added benefits we did not ask Him to give us. It is equivalent to asking for a job, and the Lord comes through with the salary, benefits, the best location, and even favor with your boss. It is when you could not see how this situation would turn out for your good, and God bless you exceedingly abundantly with more than you asked or imagined.
Regardless of whether you think you know it all, acknowledging Him in everything allows Him to guide you to where you need to go. He will lead you to green pastures, running over with the goodness of God. He gives you answers to problems that you cannot solve. The Almighty will place those in your life to encourage, support, and counsel you. He makes a way where there is no way. The Lord even gives you peace to endure all things, no matter how long it takes for change. Who wouldn’t want such an incredible outcome? So, Beloved, this too will get better in the due season God has appointed because of what He did in the past, and He will do it again.
When you do anything in your human strength and it doesn’t yield the outcome you hoped for, what does this teach you about surrendering control to God?
How can acknowledging God help turn your challenging circumstances around for your greater good?
