4 Ways to Overcome Uncertain Times

Uncertain times do not fit well into our schedule. They are more like an unwanted invasion that causes undue stress and anxiety. In such seasons, our initial reaction is; to try to figure out an answer to make it go away. Truth be told, our life needs some; uncertainties to open our eyes to what could be possible. Or to teach us a valuable lesson during a prolonged time when we do not know what the future hold for us.

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed. (Deuteronomy 31:8, ESV).

Here are four lessons we can acquire from a time of uncertainty.

1. Grow closer in our relationships –Whether for good or bad, uncertain times can help us grow closer to God and each other. It calls for us to set aside our lack of perseverance, start being a source of encouragement and think of others more than ourselves. Take the fixation off you and put it on someone worse off than you. (Hebrews 10:24, AMPC).

2. Prepare for the impossible situation – It can help us discover we are not as prepared as we thought; we would be. We spent too many days procrastinating and putting things off when we should have saved more and planned for the worse; because; bad things do happen when you least expect them. Never underestimate the possibilities of an uncertain event. (Genesis 41:36, AMP, Note 34-41).

3. The truth in my heart - Likewise, those; unwanted periods reveal what is in our hearts. You thought you felt one way and discovered you need patience in dealing with someone. We need to put ourselves in their place and become more considerate, while finding ways to alleviate their burden less. It is the best moment to be sympathetic and go out of your way to help them rather than judge them.

As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man. (Proverbs 27:19, ESV).

4. The lesson in faith -Things do not always go our way, still; it’s how we handle such occasions; that shows who we are. It takes faith in God to make it through this time. Faith never adjusts to our feelings and inability to endure because it is not a feeling. It obeys the command of the Lord and nudges us to be still and know He is God. It teaches us that in due season, He will prevail and lead us to victory. (John 14:1, AMP).

We can see things from a different perspective during such moments. It is a grand opportunity to refocus your attention on what matters most. So, when the road ahead seems uncertain, we can choose to trust God and experience His peace.
