When God’s Favor Comes in A Greater Way

Some say that favor isn’t fair. Dear One, the way God grants favor is not fair. It is ridiculous! You know you do not deserve it, nor can you earn it. Yet, He graciously and lavishly blessed you with it. According to Bible Study Tools, favor means gaining approval, acceptance, or special benefits or blessings. There is also a close association among favor, grace, and mercy, which are sometimes used to translate the same Hebrew and Greek words (such as hen [ej] and charis [cavri"]). (1)
So, the favor of God grants a promotion, though nobody even considered giving it to you. It is someone like David, whom God chose as the King of Israel. His own father did not even consider him. Besides, according to research, he was only a fifteen-year-old who enjoyed tending to the sheep. Nevertheless, Samuel anointed him.
It is a young Jewish girl, like Esther and Mary, who changed the trajectory of the world. Esther was not even Persian, and Mary surely did not come from a royal lineage. So, Beloved, what happens when the Lord grants His favor in a greater way? It is exactly what happens to these and others that God bestowed His approval on. Whatever He approves cannot be denied, thwarted, or stopped. (1 Samuel 16:1-13; Esther 2:1-17; Luke 1:26-38; Job 42:2, AMP).
He did so to me, and I will share one of those times. When I lost my belongings after moving to Florida in 2004, I was upset; however, I expected the results would be in my favor, but not as the Lord did. I knew God would turn it around for my greater good, but I did not know His favor would be in a greater way. People prayed with me, and God showed up and showed off. When we cry out to the Lord, He hears our cries.
I hired a moving company that not only overcharged me but also charged excessive fees while holding everything I owned hostage. Though I took the proper legal precautions to get them back, I was unsuccessful. However, what looked like an unsuccessful attempt turned out to be a blessing that exceeded anything I could ever imagine. When I moved back to New Jersey, my family and friends showered blessings into my life, though I never asked them to. Furniture, kitchen accessories, and even a CD player, and so much more. Their super kindness touched me profoundly.
My Friend, those fully devoted to the Lord will experience His favor in ways that make no sense. Though we know the history of how God blesses us, when He comes through again, it exceeds what He did before. He does superabundantly above anything we ask or imagine. His gracious heart adds yet another testament to the grand history we already have with Him. (Ephesians 3:20). Sweet Jesus. It is just His favor coming in a greater way. Rejoice and let your soul boast in all the Lord will do.
I pray the song, Every Good Thing by River Valley Worship, stirs your heart and helps you give all the credit to God Almighty.
TIME FOR REFLECTION: From your prior history with the Lord, what do you expect Him to do when the odds are against you? Do you expect Him to exceed what He did in the past? Or do your present circumstances make you doubt His abilities? Please encourage someone today as we talk about this in the comments below. Hit that heart button and share this devotional.
