The Ultimate Measure of a Man

In today’s culture, with its thirst for acceptance, and to prove your masculinity to conquer women, a call goes out for demand for genuine men. God needs good men with integrity, those with morality and the one who goes against the grain. Therefore, the precise measure of a man is not his net worth. Nor is it his exceptional achievements or social status. The number of women you’ve slept with is irrelevant. We need men who are courageous above one’s selfish pride to step on anybody to get to the top of the pyramid. God’s demanding men to rise to the challenge and be fathers who led by example. He instructs his children tenderly in the counsel of God. He makes sure they recognize the worth of serving the Lord.

You are to be an example to your son, so he recognizes what a real man is. God made you in His image to reflect His character. (Genesis 1:27). Your relationship with God is above reproach. Like David, you’re a man after God’s own heart. “And when He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king: of him, He testified and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart [conforming to My will and purposes], who will do all My will.” (Acts 13:22, AMP). Jesus is Lord of your life and your heart is in sync with His in obedience and pleasing Him. Though you may make mistakes, you strive to be holy as your Heavenly Father is holy. (1 Peter 1:16). He’ll see you be responsible, honest, dependable, and of moral character. Sons learn it’s essential to provide for their family while not neglecting spending time with them. Your daughters watch you treat women with respect and dignity, and not as if they are beneath you. They know you view a woman as valuable, but not intimidated by her success. You’re her remarkable admirer and encourage her to work up to her potential. And above all, you respect women and will never exploit them to fulfill your selfish needs.

Doing what’s right isn’t always easy, but choosing it despite the consequences identifies a man of valor. It’s convenient to remain silent and not get involved. Staying in your comfort zone, making excuses sets the wrong precedent for society. When a man faces times of challenges and moments of controversy, you’ll choose truth over error and fight for justice. You resist racism, tyranny, oppression, and discrimination. You won’t shrink under pressure and compromise your principles. These men aren’t afraid to rise against Goliath. “Open your mouth for the mute, For the rights of all who are unfortunate and defenseless; 9 Open your mouth, judge righteously, And administer justice for the afflicted and needy.” (Proverbs 31:8-9). He knows the Lord has chosen him for such a time as this to oppose what society tolerates and not be silent, but to speak against any human who’s treated as they’re inferior and insignificant.

So, my brothers, will you exemplify Mordecai when he urged Esther to stand against Haman’s plot to destroy the Jews? “Then Mordecai told them to reply to Esther, “Do not imagine that you in the king’s palace can escape any more than all the Jews. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, liberation and rescue will arise for the Jews from another place, and you and your father’s house will perish [since you did not help when you had the chance]. And who knows whether you have attained royalty for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]?” (Esther 4:13-14). Are you going to lead like, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, with grace, non-violence, and tenacity? Or will you become enraged, and use your influence to degrade, bully, and abuse your authority to get what you want? My Brothers, you have the power to show the world the ultimate measure of a man. So, become the person Christ created you to be. Where hate abides, bring God’s, extravagant love. Where darkness lurks, be the light. Amid division bring unity and peace. Be compassionate, audacious, and set a godly example for every nation to see. Be bold and passionate while standing for what is Christ-like.

I pray the song, A few Good Men stirs your heart.
