In Psalms 34:8 AMP, David invites us to taste and see the unparalleled goodness of God. It is a call to action for us to experience God for ourselves. See for yourself how good the Lord is first-hand. Then he says those who trust in Him will find refuge. My Friend, tasting His goodness is unlike anything you will ever experience. And you will never forget it nor be the same.
Dear One, imagine something that you really enjoy eating. Is it your favorite dessert? Or maybe that special meal that nobody can make like your mom. You savor every morsel and lick your fingers clean because it is that delicious! And you even come back for seconds. Am I making you hungry? Good because that is how we should feel about the goodness of God. We should constantly be craving and seeking it out.
His goodness blankets us like the clouds covering the earth. And while I can share with you my experiences about the goodness of God. Still, until you get a taste of how good He is, you will never know how incredible that feels. Galatians 5:22-23 mentions that goodness is even one of the fruits of the spirit. Like CeCe Winans says in her song, His goodness is running after us. Whether we acknowledge it or not, He remains full of goodness. It does not matter if we thank the Lord for it or not. He still showers with His goodness. In Psalms 84:11, He promises no good thing will He withhold from those who walk upright before Him.
Beloved, whoever you are, I am confident that you have tasted the goodness of God. Maybe He miraculously rescued you from an impossible situation, that was the goodness of God. When you received that job that you were not supposed to get, dear one, that too was the goodness of God. That time He protected you and your family from unforeseen harm was another instance of the goodness of God in action. Somebody cried out to Him, and He inclined His ear to your cry and rescued you. These are all examples of somebody experiencing the goodness of God.
He has kept you despite how awful this economy has been. He keeps providing and making a way out of no way. That means you have enjoyed the flavor of the goodness of God. Those challenging circumstances seem to get worse, but still, no weapon formed against you prospers. It is all because He graced you with His goodness. All your life, He has been so good to you. While you may not know what the future holds, His mercy stands between you and whatever harm may come your way. Psalms 27:13-14 declares you will experience the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. It tastes so delicious you will never want to stop receiving it.
