Human nature takes comfort in dodging responsibility. Whether it’s following through on your commitment to someone; to arriving to work on time, it’s easy to come up with an excuse. Even when things go wrong because of your actions, you rationalize by affixing blame. And we all do make excuses. Beloved, when using excuses becomes a habit; it’s best to practice restraining from such behavior.
Making excuses is easy. It helps to relinquish yourself from any responsibility. But to overcome this hurdle, you need to stop exempting you from the equation. Being accountable may cost something you would not desire to give up, but it defines your reputation for years to come. “For every person will have to bear [with patience] his own burden [of faults and shortcomings for which he alone is responsible].” (Galatians 6L5, AMP). Once you make allowance for your mistakes and wrong judgments, there’s no reversing that. So, don’t let that one lax in judgment cause you regret that will affect your future.
Beloved, be stronger than your excuse. Thoughts will flood your mind with every rational reason that it’s not your fault. Even some people will support in this slippery slope of denial and shifting blame. But God expects better from you. He made you courageous to do what most would urge you not to do. Choosing truth instead of error is not popular. And when anyone overrules virtuous actions by generating excuses to make themselves look innocent and free of guilt, it won’t nullify your involvement in the matter.
