The New Year can bring a new beginning, uncertainty, and even change. Either of these can be challenging. Still, we can move forward in the New Year despite an uncertain future. Only God knows what lies ahead beyond each day. Still, He does not want us to live in fear. In Matthew 6:34, AMP, Scriptures warns us, “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” To understand the meaning of this Bible verse, you must read Matthew 6:24-34.
God is warning us to choose what is more important to us. Is it wealth, possessions, fame, social status, or your relationship with the Lord? In this social climate, I see a country I no longer recognize, and my heart aches because of how we treat each other. No, I am not depressed, but I am not pleased with the heart posture of many. With inflation still hovering over us, violence running rampant, and many saying how people have become meaner, what will 2024 bring?
Will the election of a new president change anything for the better? Fortunately, for me, I do not look to our government to make matters better. Still, what about countless others who do? Our unknown future is filled with anxiety and stress. Yet, the Lord encourages us not to worry about tomorrow because every day has enough problems. It is astonishing that within 24 hours, anything could happen, and the unexpected exempts nobody. Those unexpected occurrences could be for our good or to harm us. Still, we can move forward to a bright and promising future because no weapon formed against shall prosper. (Isaiah 54:17). For those who have Jesus, we have hope beyond anything the enemy throws at us.
Beloved, I urge you not to get distracted by what you hear in the news or how unkind somebody is. Do not allow this economic crisis to overwhelm you. If God provides for the birds, imagine what He will do for you. If He clothes the lilies of the field, will He provide more than abundantly for you and your family? Does God not care for you? Of course, He does, and the Lord urges you to thrust all your concerns on Him. (1 Peter 5:7). The Almighty is ready for this new year even if you are not. He knows everything in advance and has His master plan that is mightier than anything our government or anybody does. So, regardless of who wins the election, when you trust in God, His plan overrules all else.
I challenge you to move forward, with an attitude of gratitude because of how God provided for you in years past, and He will do even more this year. It does not mean you will not face challenges. My Friend, those seasons will be better with the Lord than without Him. Move forward with confidence that over the next 365 days, God specializes in uncertainty and has an answer that will take you from season to season with peace in your heart. He sees the change that will cause you to resist but will be the answer to your prayers once you embrace them.
Still, despite the unseen or unknown, a new beginning is possible because this, too, will pass. Get ready to go further than you have because God has unlimited access and opportunities that nobody can stop. The Lord put these in place years ago, and your breakthrough has arrived. Accept the plan God has for you, whatever that entails. Know that whatever lies ahead, He knows, so cooperate with Him. Stop resisting and submit, then trust Him even when something does not make sense. His ways are not our ways, yet they always yield what is best for us. Have a prosperous New Year with God at the helm, and you will overcome anything that happens because He already fought every battle. Guess what? God already won, and you are victorious!
