Life is fragile, and what we have today can be gone tomorrow. In a flash, something could change the trajectory of our life, and we will never be the same. My heart goes out to those affected by the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Genesis 8:22 informs us we shall always have seasons. While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease. But it never stated weather will ever be the same. So, just because this has never happened or you think it is unlikely to happen does not mean it will not happen. We saw this on August 29 and September the first, after Hurricane Ida ripped through Louisiana. As the storm travels on its pathway, downgrading to a tropical storm, it flooded parts of the northeastern region. Even the state where I live, Ida ravished several cities. When news of its projected path hit the news, I did as I always do, walked around the trail in a nearby park, and prayed. I am grateful to God our town was spared.
They call it climate change, once known as global warming. Some believe while others doubt. It left many speechless and devastated. For years, I have been saying; the Bible is right on time. Now, it is not the end of times that Revelations forewarns us. And Matthew tells of signs but says the end is not yet. It is the beginning of birth pains. God even warns us not to be alarmed because these things must take place. (24:3-8). So, I am not surprised about this weather we see occurring. I say to expect it because it is coming and what is to come is nothing compared to what will come.
Beloved, get ready, stay prepare because whether you believe something will occur or not doesn't stop it from happening. Use these awful events as lessons because humans sometimes think they know more than God. In your finite mind, you make foolish predictions, which leads to reckless decisions. None of us knows the future other than God Almighty. Beloved, plan ahead of time for the worst-case scenario so you will not be left baffled and out in the cold. Never underestimate the possibility of what could happen.
QUESTION FOR REFLECTION: Whether you believe in climate change or not, in regards to the weather, what do you think God is telling us?
I pray the song; Living Hope by Phil Wickman stirs your heart and faith in God.
