I Shall Live and Not Die

Updated: Apr 19

In this March newsletter I received from CBN, Gordon Roberts wrote, “You can never be too dead for a resurrection.” His words resonate with me. At the last supper, Jesus already knew who would betray Him. Before the last Passover, He would take part of here on earth, Jesus said in Luke 22:15 ESV, “And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Christ recognized the pain and anguish that awaited Him. Still, because He loved us; and wanted even more for us, He died for us.

Now, this glorious time commemorated the delivery of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Christ knew, even when He dipped the morsel and gave it to Judas, he was the one who would betray Him. Likewise, He told Him to be quick about what he had to do. Knowing all of this, He had the power to change His current outcome. He chooses instead to suffer the horrific ordeal of scourging for you and me to receive the precious gift of salvation. (Matthew 26:26-29; John 13:21-27, John 19:1-6). Our Savior knew something His accusers and torturers did not. In three days, He rose! I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. Psalms 118:17, KJV.

Beloved, today, you too can declare these words of truth because no matter how far you are from God, He is close to the brokenhearted. The doctor’s report may have given you a death sentence. But with God, all things are possible. You are not too far gone that His power cannot transform you by renewing your mind. (Romans 12:1-2). No matter what your plight you can never be too dead for the Lord to restore you to life. He will come and save you and do a new thing with you. He has carried our sins as far as the East is from the West. It gives us access to the throne of grace where we can find help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16). The same resurrection power that raised Jesus Christ is available without charge to anyone who believes in Him. The Lord loves you with an everlasting love and there is nothing you have done or will do in the future that will prevent Him from loving you. Come, lay your burdens at the feet of Jesus and experience His peace that surpasses all understanding. Then rejoice because He lives and reigns forever.
