Hearing The Voice of God

When my youngest granddaughter was a toddler, one of our favorite times of the day was when I took her to the park. Watching her play and interact with the other children filled both of us with joy. On one of those occasions, as I was sitting and watching her, someone called out, Ava! It caught my attention, and I looked around, searching for who was calling her. However, it was someone else calling out to a child named Ava. Sometime later, another person called out Ava again.
To my surprise, there were about four of us with a child named Ava in the park that day. Realizing this caused me to laugh. I even texted my daughter about it, and we both found it quite amusing. During all of this, guess what? My granddaughter never responded to the other people, but when I called out to her, she did respond. Why didn’t she respond, you may be asking? Dear One, she did not recognize their voice. However, when I called for her, she responded immediately because she knew my voice.
There may be many voices vying for your attention, trying to convince you to follow them. You may encounter the voice of influence attempting to lead you astray. It could be that persuasive voice on the internet with an offer that is too good to be true. And even a voice that resembles scripture but with a twist that will leave you living with regrets. (Proverbs 13:20; 1 Corinthians 15:33)
John 10:27, AMP, assures us that the sheep hear Jesus’s voice and follow Him. Like how my grandchild recognized my voice, the Lord knows each of our voices. He encourages us to cry out to Him because He inclines His ear to our cries. No matter how many others are calling out to Christ at the exact time you are calling Him, He can distinguish your voice from all the others. Isn’t that amazing? Does it not boost your confidence in Him?
Regardless of how many have the same name as yours, God can identify your voice. He will never become confused over who called Him for the same specific reason at the same time. Even today, someone needs healing. Someone needs a breakthrough. Someone needs their challenges to turn around. Someone is desperate and on the verge of a breakdown. And His ears are open, waiting patiently for us to call out to the Father for help.
My granddaughter would not have followed those other people, but when I called her, she came to me and followed me. She knows I will not lead her into danger but will risk my life to save her from any harm. That is what Jesus does for us. He knows us, loves us, and died for us.
Dear One, when we call out to Him, we are expressing our deepest yearnings and desires. When we are most vulnerable, He is closer than our heartbeat and will never desert us in our struggles. And it is during those times we get to see how affectionate He is and the lengths He will go to not only respond to us, but to deliver us. (Psalm 34:17, AMP)
