My Sheep Hears My Voice

ree

Social media, the news, others’ opinions, even gossip - In this chaotic time, when so many conflicting voices are screaming, it is pertinent that we hear the voice of God above all the noise. How can we recognize His voice above all the manipulation and deception? Some are so eloquent and persuasive, like the clever and beguiling words the serpent used to mislead Eve, that it could lure you into a place that could lead to your destruction. Psalms 46:10, AMP instructs us to be still and know that “I am God.” When you are distracted, it is hard to hear God. Those distractions can make you lose focus and hear something that sounds like the truth but is not.

The Lord is not saying not to move, but to allow your mind, heart, and spirit to be in sync with His. In other words, release your hold on your worries, disappointments, and circumstances, and surrender control of that situation to Him. He is the Almighty sovereign Lord who is present in everything and knows the beginning before the end. All your strength comes from Him because He alone is the source of your strength, comfort, and peace. (Psalms 28:7)

John 10:27 says His sheep hear His voice and follow him. He knows them, and they follow Him. Unlike the Great Deceiver, we know our father’s voice and cannot be easily deceived. His voice is not cloaked under a cloud of smoke that sends shivers down your spine and makes you shudder in fear. Nor is it someone who dismisses or minimizes your feelings or concerns to make you seem as though you are irrational.

As we cultivate a relationship with God through His Word, praying, and staying in His presence, we become more in sync with Him. That oneness creates an unbreakable bond that strengthens our connection with Him. When He speaks, He guides us into all the truth because He is the way, the truth, and the life. He cannot lie. (John 16:13; Hebrews 6:18).

Dear One, come, sit at the feet of Jesus. Turn off all the distractions and, in His presence, let the silence open your heart to His still small voice that will never lead you astray. Father, I don't want to go somewhere you are not.

I pray that I Don't Want to Go by Avalon stirs your heart to follow Jesus wherever He goes.
