God Fulfilled My Dreams Though It Looked Impossible
Life is a journey of seasons that unfold in ways we never expected. What we thought would never happen was waiting for the opportunity of a lifetime. If no dreams exist, wait for your skills to awaken a desire in you that only a dream can fulfill. Our dreams are our hopes, desires, and events we hope will come true. They can start while we are young or in our latter years. They come from different ways, such as me listening to my Big Mama dictating letters to my cousin. Her words were thought-provoking. She lost her sight when her children were grown and had their own families. Had you met her, you probably would not have known she was blind. And she never allowed this disability to define her.
She was a pillar of the community and was always helping others. Listening to her dictate those letters inspired me. Little did I know it would catalyst me into making my dreams come true. That dream required nourishment from me and others. And I began writing a play at the tender age of nine. Even though it may take years, God will send someone to encourage you. However, the enemy may put obstacles in your way to stop your dream from becoming a reality.
Your part is not to give up regardless of the challenges. Somebody may try to make you self-doubt yourself. Like the student who told me I did not write my play because she had read it in a magazine. And I could have allowed her words to cause me to self-doubt the abilities God had blessed me with. Instead, I said to myself, it must have been pretty good to have been written in a magazine. She did not realize it, but I saw her comment as a compliment.
That attitude and faith in God kept me declaring one day, I would write a book. Then, the Lord sends another to encourage you and help you gain the skills and abilities to succeed. There may come a time when it seems that dream will never happen, but when you least expect it, an opportunity will occur to open the door for you to put your gift on display. It happened to me when I joined LinkedIn and started commenting on posts. Though I was reluctant to join social media, I am glad I did.
Many were encouraged, and I gathered a following of people. My comments went from a few words of encouragement to posting articles. That led to becoming a Feature Writer for Faith Filled Family Magazine. Then, becoming their Interview Manager. Over time, that led to my first published book, Capturing the Spirit of God’s Word with Vernita. My dear friend, Lisa Castracane, gave me the title. She even suggested that I get an app in its name to use as an avenue to empower others.
Over time, you watch others fulfill their dreams while losing hope that yours will ever happen. My opportunity came, and yours will, too. The Lord has someone who will encourage you as He did for me. And even my story can motivate you to see with God, nothing is impossible. (Luke 1:37, AMP). There is no goal we set that He cannot fulfill because we can do all things through Him, who gives us strength. (Philippians 4:13).
While you wait, encourage yourself, and keep putting your talents to good use because He did not give you that potential to hide under a bushel. (Luke 11:33). That may mean using your talent in a way you never expected. Beloved, when you least expect it, He will open a door that propels you into your destiny. Keep dreaming and acting as if you already are who God created you to be. I am cheering you on!
