Lord, never again allow us to return to normal. Send Your Holy Spirit and do a new thing in the earth. I pray they will never yield to hatred and bigotry. Let them never violate this world with killings of the unborn and plaguing the earth with violence. I pray our schools will once again embrace prayer, becoming a haven for our children. Convict the judicial system, so they demand justice and walk upright before You. Let families return to who You created us to be, a man and woman uniting as one flesh. (Genesis 2:21-24). Enable your love to define us and pour from everyone’s hearts and never again to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to. (1 John 4:7, Romans 12:3). Overrule pride and arrogance and let everybody look down on someone when they’re picking them up.
People across the globe are starving, and you dare to complain about social distancing. Many are homeless and will remain so even after this ordeal ends. But you become angry because the stores have no tissue or meat. Someone has no choice, but to leave their children home alone with their older siblings, you still won’t seize this chance to spend quality moments with your family. People lost their jobs, and you complain because you don’t want to work from a home. A local church is in your neighborhood, and you never took the time to come and worship God. The government closed the doors of the church temporarily, and now you get offended.
So, you can’t wait to run back to normal? Seriously? Why? To return to your old ways of doing? You want to remain in familiarity and the comfort of convenience? God, may we never look at life the same? Many believe things will never be as they once were. Sure, somebody will change because of the effects of COVID-19. In my heart of hearts, the plea for wanting to go back to matters as they were is a sign of the mind of the people. How can transformation take place with a world longing to return to what was?
God, hear my cry for the nations. Father, stretch out Your mighty hand and touch the four corners of this earth, leaving behind a residue of Your love. O holy, gracious Father, convict those who are wandering in the wilderness, opening their eyes where the enemy has blinded them. Look on this world who has rejected You and don’t even want the name of Jesus mentioned. Have mercy on us, God, for the grave sins we have committed and forgive us. If You don’t intervene, we are lost. In the Matchless Name of Jesus. Amen.
I pray the song, As We Pray; by Bob Fitts stirs your heart.
