Influence represents a powerful way to convince someone to live up to the expectations of others. But when you know of who you are; remind yourself that you don’t have to do something merely because someone else does it. So many young girls and guys want that group to accept them. And they will go to a considerable length to be a part of the team even if it means being teased and mistreated. And their parents are clueless to how awful this affects them. But youth such as these are loyal to a fault.
So, whatever it is the person has persuaded you to do that makes you feel uncomfortable; you have a say about it. It could be something that sounds logical, but it alters who you are. Your friends may try getting you to believe their opinions, beliefs, and lifestyle is what’s best for you. They may desire you to change your appearance. Just because you’re shy, quiet, look different, doesn’t gossip nor make people feel unaccepted, doesn’t mean you’re not a wonderful person. “I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.” (Psalms 139:14, AMP). In fact, you are what those considered less likely in society craves to have in their life. Beloved, it’s impressive to stand out from the crowd and be one who stands for truth over error and chooses right from wrong. Actions such as these have led to the fork in the road that leads to the path which determines what you’ll become. Choose wisely, because there will be grave consequences and your future is at state. Be unique and proud of it!
So, the next time someone says; “everyone else is doing it, and there’s no harm in this …” Take a moment to think before you do something that can transform you into someone you’ll grow to hate. Believe me, dear One, not everyone, is doing what they are pushing you to do. And you’d do well to walk away and discover some new friends who’re more like you.
I hope the musical selection; Who You Say I Am by Hillsong; stirs your heart.
