Day 22 - Proverbs Chapter 22

Updated: Jan 7, 2021

(

Solomon prescribed these words of truth to save you from unnecessary difficulties. Some incidences in life are not preventable. Others could be avoidable had we listened and followed the wise instructions of Proverbs. Be on guard, incline your hearing to wisdom. (Proverbs 22:1).

Here are some nuggets to embed in your heart.

Train children to do what is right. Making foolish decisions is in their mind, so don’t put off correcting them. Part of loving them is being sure they understand the importance of making wholesome choices and not being manipulated by anyone. Beloved, don’t feel guilty should the time come to discipline and hold them accountable for their behavior. (Vs 6) (15).

Bless the destitute and never withhold from helping them to overcome their struggle. You’re sharing God’s love and giving them hope. (Vs 9)

Oppressing the poor to gain prestige can cause your poverty. God will rescue them and you’ll reap ruin. (Vs 16) (22-23)

Angry people are on the prowl to entice anybody to join in their evil ways. They can be persuasive and deceptive. Such a person isn’t your friend. They feel their heart with rage; while planning an agenda of violence and destruction. Avoid their charm and clever speech intended to sway you. This traps you in the snare while they escape any punishment. (Vs 24-25).

Stay away from pledging what you can’t pay and securing someone’s obligation. Be careful not to overcompensate. You should never get into debt to release someone from debt. Live within your financial means. Besides, how will somebody learn responsibility when you try to bail them out of trouble? (Vs 26-27).

Your name proceeds, you, it is your brand. It confirms your identity and even your destiny. Your reputation lives up to who you are. You build it on your actions, attitude, and how you treat everybody. Those who have cultivated a reputable relationship with you have a sense of your temperament and demeanor. Those who have cultivated a reputable relationship with you have a sense of your temperament and demeanor. Beloved, a good name makes a statement. It brings you honor, respect; while holding you in the highest esteem. It draws people to you, and the desire to be like you. Your presence gives them hope and inspiration. A good name’s priceless, and no amount of riches can compare.
