Some “friends” pretend to be friends, but a true friend sticks closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24, CJB)
It never ceases to amaze me how God allows our path to cross with some people. He calls everyone to communities of friendship. The Lord places some of them in our life for a moment, while others are for a lifetime. He knew we needed such individuals, so He meticulously set in motion for our paths to intertwine decades ahead of time. Some leave such an impression; it brings music to our souls and makes us leap for joy. They pour into our lives the godly wisdom that keeps us sound. They also provide a rock-steady guide that makes our perspectives clearer.
Some we get to build a lasting relationship that spans through time and seasons. Their footprints become embedded in our lives as they encourage us not only when we need this the most but even when all is well. These see us as God sees us and recognizes when to push us to rise to the challenge. They are not afraid to speak the truth in love and know the precise second to speaks a word of truth in our lives. (Ephesians 4;15). Just like a ship at a port, they anchor our faith, and we do not drift when the waves try to pull us under. These are they who stick so close we are inseparable, though we are apart. Whatever moment we spend together with either of these, we leave their presence, knowing God blessed us with a priceless treasure.
Merciful Father, we thank You for Your priceless gift of friends. Regardless of how long we have each other, we will forever bless these precious souls as you have blessed us to have or have had them in our lives. God, we are never the same.
