Acceptance is a significant part of life. The need to impress others can drive you to do the most unimaginable things. But when you live so others accept you; you’re losing whom God created you to be. It is why it’s all-important to do what is right even when no one is watching. We live in a world greedy for attention, overwhelmed with greed, and selfish ambitions. It’s all for one, and me and my attitude. It’s about stepping over others to move on to a position of power and prestige. Every time you do anything for someone to like and agree with you, you’re sacrificing character for a moment of pleasure. We define true character by what we do and how we act. It’s those moments when authenticity and truth overrule the need for someone’s approval. This reveals our core values, morals, and ethics. Your character shows in what you do when no one is watching. So, Beloved, how far are you willing to go to be accepted by others?
No one is watching but the enemy sets you up to entice you to make the wrong choice. An opportunity presents itself which gives you a chance to either do the right thing or choose the wrong path. What do you do when no one is watching? Do you pick up that money someone left on the counter? Would you cheat on that exam to gain a favorable outcome? Are you going to take credit for something you know you didn’t do? Will you go through that red light because it's late at night and no one's around? No one’s watching and it would be easy to get by with it. Nobody will even know what you did. But here’s the truth. Someone is watching. It’s God. He keeps a watchful eye over you. “The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping his eye on both the evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3, NLT). His angels are even encamped around you. And when you make the unwise decision to choose wrong over right, you could ruin your reputation. No matter how many good deeds you have done, people will always remember you for that one terrible choice you made. And something is amazing about someone who does the right thing even when no one is watching. You may seem as odd. They may even tease you. But doing right is always rewarding, and it touches the Lord’s heart like you can’t imagine. “But clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for [nor even think about gratifying] the flesh regarding its improper desires.; (Romans 13:14, AMP). Every time you satisfy your flesh through sin, you step out of character. So, make your heavenly Father proud of you. Hold to what is right even when no one is watching.
Jesus, I will follow You and bring honor to everything I do, even when no one is watching. My light shines bright, and I am unashamed to stand out because I chose truth over error. In Jesus' Name. Amen
