God called you to be unique and make a difference. He wants you to stand out from the crowd and allow your light to shine so others would glorify Him. You’re expected to do the contrary and turn the world upside down. (Acts 17:6-7). You will be misunderstood. People will tease and laugh at you. They will oppose you and fight against everything you stand for. In a word, He never supposed you would fit in.
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9, NLT).
The word peculiar means strange, odd or unusual. (1). And that’s what you are, Beloved. And there’s nothing to be ashamed about because you’re like your heavenly, Father. And He is the best role model to emulate.
Jesus is love - His love is so extraordinary He laid down His life for humanity. (John 15:3). He showed through His example what love is in the most extreme and difficult moments. (John 3:16, Matthew 8:16, John 17:20-21, Ephesians 2:4-5).
He is compassionate - Jesus never looked down on others. He saw their needs and addressed them. (Matthew 9:36). He saw their pain and took time to help make their lives better. He sent no one away. He never showed favoritism because everyone was of the utmost value. (Mark 6:34). His compassion drove Him to meet them right where they were.
Christ Is Forgiving - While on the cross, He asked His Father to forgive them for they know not what they do. (Luke 23:34). This is forgiveness in the truest form. Though we were unworthy of His grace and mercy, Jesus gave what we never deserved with no hesitation.
Jesus - Servant of God -The Lord did not come to be served, but to serve for the greater good. (Matthew 20:28). Though He had all authority to receive applause and attention, it was never about Him. He showed through example how to humble yourself and serve.
A Life of Prayer and Gratitude - Often, Jesus would go away and spend time with His Father in prayer. He never prayed for His needs, but for the needs of others. He made it a priority to seek God with His whole heart, mind, and spirit. (Mark 1:12, 35; Luke 5:15-16). Though He always found time to spend with His disciples and others, He never neglected to make time for precious moments with His Father. And Jesus was thankful and never took His Father’s kindness and mercy for granted. (John 6:11, 11:41-44; Luke 22:17-19). He knew it was His Father who had performed signs, wonders, and miracles through Him.
So, Beloved, the Lord has passed the torch to you to report how He made you show His goodness through. You’re His example of beauty from ashes, going from rejected to accepted, and to speak out for Him. Never forget who you are to Him. He's ready to do great things through you.
