When Your Heart is Overwhelmed

Sometimes, life takes a turn that you didn’t expect. Be that as it may, when life overwhelms you and leaves you in despair, it’s the best time to look to God to lift you from despair. Therefore, to those who are sorrowful in heart, take courage.

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit

(Psalms 34:18, ESV).

Perhaps, you hurt due to the loss of loved one. Or, you just received the papers signifying your marriage has been dissolved. Maybe, you were swindled resulting in the loss of your hard-earned savings. This includes funds you set aside for your retirement, savings for your children's college, too. You’ve suffered a broken heart. You thought this was the "One". You were so sure this relationship would be different than any of the others.

Beloved, whatever has crushed your spirit leaving you feeling hopeless, remember the enemy will use this as an opportunity to convince you that God is not there and He will not help you. The devil is a perpetual liar. These circumstances are meant to empower you not harm you. This is a time to depend upon the Lord. God has a plan and purpose for your life. However, you won't fulfill it if you are dwelling on your problems rather than the victorious outcome. Trust in the Lord and search the scriptures and you'll discover a record full of His promises and truth that reveals God is always there.

Father, wrap Your loving arms around those in despair and bring peace to their heart. May they hear psalms of joy that brings hope to their soul. May they rise up and look to Jesus, the One who is greater than their pain.
