The third and final character trait being developed in you while waiting for God's promises to manifest is your character is being fashioned. God is using your season of waiting to develop your character in the most unlikely but amazing ways.
Develop Character ~ This comes from 5544. chrestotes khray-stot'-ace from 5543; usefulness, i.e. morally, excellence (in character or demeanor):--gentleness, good(-ness), kindness.
Character is the foundation your life is established upon. It defines who you are. It’s what distinguishes you from any other person on this earth. And your character is consistent with your behavior, habits, customs, and attitude. Your character is divulged through your personality. It discloses your temperament, likes, and dislikes. It exposes your beliefs and what drives you. In a word, your character, or lack thereof, informs the world what you are made of.
So, as you are being prepared and equipped for the plan and purpose God has designed for your life, your character is being developed. 17 I know also, my God, that You test the heart and delight in uprightness and integrity. (1 Chronicles 29:17, AMP). So, whether it’s adhering to morals and ethics which make you stand out from the crowd, it depends upon how well you respond in any given situation. A good name [earned by honorable behavior, godly wisdom, moral courage, and personal integrity] is more desirable than great riches; And favor is better than silver. (Proverbs 22:1). Your Character is gauged by your overall tendencies, not just a few occurrences. David was a man of character, though he fell short and sinned. (1 Samuel 13:24, 2 Samuel 11). But, King Ahab, was a man of overall bad character. (1 Kings 16:33).
Amid the waiting to go forth fully in what God designed you to be, patience is a vital key. You will be tested. And circumstances are used to take you to a higher level of intimacy with the Lord. (Proverbs 10:9). However, if you grumble and complain, it only delays the awesome outcome God has prepared for you. Thus, character aids you as you weather the storm and helps you resist indulging in the flesh. In a word, God strengthens your character as you go through the fiery trials.
Therefore, whatever He has promised you, it will come to pass at His precise season. It won’t happen on your time schedule, but as you make the right choices, and choose not to defile yourself of the temptations offered by the world, you will grow and mature in character. (Romans 5:3-4). So, while you are in this season of waiting, God is transforming you through preparing, equipping and molding your character. He wants you to become who He ordained you to be. Whether it’s within the five -fold ministry, within the medical field, an author, or a Greeter… present God with your absolute best service and perform it in the spirit of excellence. Than His promise to elevate you will come when you least expect it.
