Jesus ~ The Greatest Gift of All

Updated: Oct 27, 2022

He came to us as a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes (Luke 2:7, AMP). He is a miraculous gift from God to humankind. The angel appeared to Mary, the young Jewish girl, whose life would never be the same. The news was more than she could conceive. She had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus, the Son of God. But how can this be seeing she was a virgin, betrothed to be united in marriage to Joseph?

Joseph decided to put her away privately, not wanting to make a public spectacle of Mary. Still, the Lord had a greater plan. So, an angel appears to him in a dream and reassures him to go through with the marriage for surely His Son, Jesus, is the answer to a world in desperate need of a Savior.

So, Joseph and Mary go to Judea of Bethlehem to be taxed, and while there, the prophecy is fulfilled, and Jesus is born. Likewise, there were shepherds in the field keeping watch over their sheep. They received word that baby Jesus had been born. Such a glorious announcement is made as the angel and a heavenly host proclaims: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace and goodwill toward men. (Luke 2:13-14). So, they came to where the baby lay, and left rejoicing and proclaiming this magnificent news.

Over time, the Maji, wise men bring precious gifts to the young child, Jesus. “And after entering the house, they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, after opening their treasure chests, they presented to Him gifts [fit for a king, gifts] of gold, frankincense, and myrrh (Matthew 2:11, AMP) …. And Jesus grows and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon Him (Luke 2:40).

He became our great physician. I am the Lord that healeth thee. (Exodus 15:26, KJV). He is our ultimate provider and more than enough. I will supply all your needs according to my riches in glory. (Philippians 4:19). He is our defender and protector; Jehovah Sabaoth, our warrior who fights our battles and subdues our enemies. (Exodus 14:14). He is our comforter in times of sorrow. (2 Corinthians 1:3-5). He is our peace that surpasses all understanding. (Philippians 4:7) And He is our precious gift of salvation. The way, the truth, and the light ... (John 14:6).

So, now it is your term to go proclaim this wondrous news and glorious gift, God’s Son, Jesus, the Messiah, to the world. It cost you absolutely nothing but is the greatest and most priceless gift you can offer to the unbeliever, the hurting, the hopeless, and anyone who has lost their way. Come unto Jesus, and He will give you rest.
