God Completes His Good Work

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.

When Paul accepted God, he faced significant resistance because many did not accept him. His reputation really did precede him, and nobody wanted anything to do with him. He was known for persecuting Christians and was on a mission to arrest men and women and throw them in prison. However, God transformed him, and over time, the man who once created havoc used that same zeal and touched the lives of countless others for the greater good of the gospel of Christ.

Dear One, you have come so far from where you were, and God will take you further than you can imagine. In this current climate, this may sound foreign to you, especially since everything seems more difficult than before. You may feel like your efforts are in vain as you see how hardened society has become. You may even experience feelings of loneliness and despair more often than the comforting presence of God.

Beloved, we cannot base our future on the current climate or our present circumstances. Still, I have confidence that what God started in you, He will help you fulfill it. He has equipped you with His knowledge—empowered you with his strength—and adorned you with His grace. As Christ was with Paul, he is with you, too. He never abandoned Paul; even while he was in prison, God was right there too.

During these times of difficulty, His Word serves as a lamp to your feet and light to your path. (Psalms 119:105). Even Isaiah 58:11 assures us that the Lord is committed to guiding and supporting us on this amazing journey. He sees the ending before the beginning and is certain of the outcome when we are uncertain. The same God who brought Paul through every battle is the same God who will see you through yours.

TIME FOR REFLECTION: Is there anything in your past that resembles how Paul was before God transformed him? Will you share how God changed you and the effect it has had on your life and others?
