The Season to Put Every Ounce of Trust in God

Trust God no matter your circumstances!
Trust God no matter your circumstances!

Therefore, I tell you, stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, as to what you will wear. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow [seed] nor reap [the harvest] nor gather [the crops] into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? (Matthew 6:25-26, AMP)

When I go to the park, I find my heart filled with praise as I watch how God supplies squirrels with food. They don't worry because they know their Creator will provide their needs. Their care-free life confirms what happens when we put all our trust in the Lord.

Dear One, another year is here, with both uncertainty and possibilities, and some may be excited while others have apprehensions. Looking back over the last year, it may have caused you to panic more and trust God less. And your fear of what will happen holds more power than your faith in Him. These moments may have prompted you to carry those feelings into this new year, filled with great possibilities despite what we went through last year.

Dear One, because of all the anxiety, disappointments, and chaos from the past, maybe this is the year God wants you to put every ounce of your trust in Him. Life guarantees that there will be an endless flow of troubles that could cause anxiety. Even our feelings can cause us to imagine the worst because of the past. However, we can bring the same hope that brought over into this year.

Why do we lose hope when we already have a flawless record with God, who has an unlimited reservoir of resources, as Matthew 6:25-26 reminds us of? We get distracted and take our eyes off of what God has already done and focus on our circumstances.

How do we redirect our minds from those distractions? We look at the squirrels, or, as Matthew states, the birds. The same God who keeps feeding them takes care of us. He promises not to withhold anything good from us. (Psalms 84:11).

Or realize that we cannot change what occurred last year; however, we can bring the same hope that brought us over into this year. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord declares that He has a plan and purpose for our good, and not to harm us, but to bring hope and a future.

God never promises joy without sorrow. Hope without despair or comfort without pain. However, the Lord still rolls stones away. He can still split your Red Sea crisis. He can still bring life back into an impossible situation. He can still move the unmovable mountain.

So, let this be the year that you put every ounce of your trust in God. Look to His Word, which is accurate, trustworthy, and reliable. He does not lie but continues to provide and care for us.

May the song You Keep Hope Alive by Mandisa and John Reddick stir your heart and empower you to rely completely on the Lord, no matter what!

TIME FOR REFLECTION: Considering the wonderful history we have with the Lord, share an experience when you felt hopeless and your trust in the Lord brought you through. What was your takeaway from that experience? Let's talk about it in the comments below.
